In its latest edition, the journal MedNous reports on the Medtech & Pharma Platform Association 2021 Annual Conference (MPP2021), which took place in a virtual setting on 21 October 2021. Organized by SFL, the conference focused on products at the crossroads of the pharma, medtech and ICT sectors (referred to by MPP as combined products). More than 460 registered attendees to listen to and engage with speakers from the industry, medicine agencies, national competent authorities, notified bodies, patient organizations and academia as well as organize business meetings.
The article, entitled ‘Meeting report: Healthcare’, covers extensively the panel discussion moderated by SFL’s CEO and President of Medtech & Pharma Platform Association, Shayesteh Fürst-Ladani. Panelists from the European Commission, the European Medicines Agency, the US Food & Drug Administration, the UK Medicines and Health products Regulatory Agency, BSI/Team-NB and the University of Bonn shared their insights on the evolution of the framework for combined products. They called for an agile regulatory environment which fosters the involvement of all stakeholders and enables to keep up with technology and product developments. They also stressed the need to achieve regulatory convergence on a global scale. The article is available here (paywall).
