Expert consensus document on treatment and management of a particular medical condition

Situation

A globally active pharmaceutical company contacted SFL for medical writing support. The company provided an unrestricted grant to support the development of an expert consensus document on the treatment and management of a particular medical condition. The need for such a consensus document was identified at a medical advisory board held by the company.

Solution

SFL identified key opinion leaders in the relevant therapeutic area who were willing to contribute with their expertise to this consensus document. In exchange with these medical experts, SFL prepared a draft document which was then circulated among the experts to ensure that all available evidence has been carefully considered and that the represented views are a consensus supported by all experts involved. The final document was submitted to a leading peer-reviewed journal for publication.

The expert consensus document was accepted for publication and is freely available for download. It helps health care professionals to make appropriate decisions in this therapeutic area and has already been cited as a reference by other articles listed in PubMed Central.
